About the Founder

JONATHAN J. MCKIM, ARCHITECT

Born and raised in Chester County, Pennsylvania, architect Jonathan J. McKim started MCKIM Architectural Atelier in November 2010. He holds a 5-year Professional B-Arch from Temple University, where he started in the university’s facilities planning & design department as an intern drafter in 1998.

Unpretentious, friendly, amical, and often partaking in good hearted self-deprecation, Jonathan’s favorite part of specializing in residential design was the personal connections that he formed with his homeowner clients. However, after a client retaliated against Jonathan by filing a complaint with the California Architects Board for his refusal to assist her with inflicting harm upon her neighbor by violate the local building code on her behalf, which in turn cost him a seven figure vendor contract, Jonathan understandably no longer provides one-on-one services to anyone who is not a member or representative of a family office.
